As we have no communication once you are on the track we recommend booking your return transfer.

But there is an option that if you don’t know what day you would like to come out, and want to be flexible, you can see what spare seats are available at Kerin Forks pick up spot and pay upon return.

This can also be an option if the weather has turned and you have changed your mind and unable to walk out.

There is no cell phone service in the majority of the national park, however if you have an inReach, we can provide you with an email address or phone number to use.

There is cell phone service at the Young River, so you are able to call us if you are near this location or closer to town.

Due to DOC concessions and river conditions, we are not able to boat or any further up the Young River than the confluence. We are also not able to boat any further up the Wilkin River from Kerin Forks hut.

Generally, we do not offer a pick-up service from the Young River. For more information or to chat to us about this please contact us directly.

We have parking available next to the office for day-trippers. If this is full, please feel free to park in the Wonderland Lodge parking area.

All multi-day trampers must park in the allocated space across the road from our office. Please bring $5 cash with you and deposit it in the donation in the office. All proceeds are given to the local community.

Please give yourself 1 hour to drive from Wanaka.

Unfortunately, we don’t. You will need to make your own way here. Check out Yello Taxis or the Intercity Bus service for transport to Makarora.

We operate in the NZ mountains so therefore prepare for the worst and hope for the best!

We monitor the forecast to the best of our ability and will endeavour to make early weather calls so that you can get the most out of your trip.

As you are out in the wilderness please be prepared for sandflies and bumblebees!

If you don’t see a boat time that suits you, please contact us directly and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Please note, bespoke services will have to run with minimum pax numbers and around our usual services.

If Wilkins River Jets cancels due to unsuitable weather a full refund will be provided.

For all other cancellations, please view our Terms and Conditions.

Yes. If you are wanting to cross the Wilkin River to travel from the Siberia side to the Kerin Forks side (or vice versa), we can provide a river crossing for $20pp cash to the jet boat driver.

This service is dependent on the day’s bookings so please enquire beforehand if you would like to organise this.

9am drop off to Young Mouth.

Boats to Kerin Forks run up on the hour and back on the half-hour, generally over the lunchtime period (12-2pm). Please contact us for services outside of these hours.
