One bag is included in the fare price – if you would like to carry an extra bag this will cost $25, or $50 for a pack raft.
The Makarora DOC office is unmanned; you will need to research all your information on the weather, huts, and track online or at the Wanaka DOC office.
There are no services for supplies, equipment, or information on weather/maps in Makarora. For more information on the Gillespie Circuit please visit the DOC website.
There is an overnight carpark available opposite our Wilkin River Jets office in Makarora. Please bring $5 cash per vehicle with you and place it in the donation box in our office. All funds raised will be donated to the local community.
For Siberia Hut you will need to book online from December over the summer months. Young Hut cannot be booked in advance and operates on a first-come, first-served basis.
Wilkin River Jets and Backcountry Helicopters are happy to help with local information, but we are not a DOC office. We can’t help with where to cross the rivers, how many people are in the huts, and track conditions. This is up to you and your trip planning to organise and the DOC office in Wanaka is the best resource. We will, however, help in any way we can for your transport needs.
